Youth & Education

Young people are the primary educational audience for Station Liberty. We want them to leave with more questions than they arrived with — and with the confidence to keep searching for answers.

Training can include history, STEM, teamwork, leadership, navigation, seamanship, marine engineering, restoration, communications, safety, problem solving and practical skills. Whenever possible, instruction connects a real object, vessel, vehicle, veteran or historical story to the lesson.

Teaching, not showing off

Our instructors and subject-matter experts are here to teach, not simply demonstrate what they know. Trainees are encouraged to participate, think, ask questions, make safe mistakes, learn from them and improve.

Safety and youth protection

Youth safety is foundational. Station Liberty procedures are being developed around qualified supervision, two-deep adult coverage for trainees under 18, appropriate background screening, anti-bullying and anti-hazing expectations, drug-free standards, harassment prevention, clear reporting procedures — and a culture in which uncertainty means stop, assess and ask.
