A veteran walking through Station Liberty should never feel like a museum piece. Your knowledge, memories and experiences can help another person understand history in a way no label can reproduce.
Some veterans may want to teach. Some may want to restore equipment. Some may want to tell one story. Others may simply want coffee, a chair and a place where they feel at home. All of those are valid.
Preserving the person
Uniforms, photographs, letters, medals, tools and equipment matter because people used them. Whenever possible, The Last Patrol works to preserve the story attached to an artifact — the person, unit, family, experience and history that give the object meaning.
A place across generations
Station Liberty is designed to put generations in the same room. A young person may bring the question. A veteran may bring the memory. A historian may bring the record. A mechanic may explain how the machine worked. Together, the history becomes human.
